EQUINE LAW / LITIGATION
Bill Koska has been involved with owners of all types of horses, some of which were National Champions in their discipline, trainers, stable owners, individuals, veterinarians, the USEF and property owners with issues regarding horses. He has negotiated purchase and sale agreements, drafted lease and release agreements, settled and litigated cases involving riders injured on horseback. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation regarding injury cases.
He has represented horse owners in defense of doping allegations brought by various organizations. He has represented veterinarians in malpractice claims involving horses and treatment of horses, as well as the death of horses and mares in foal who died and lost their foal. Some of these cases involved high profile individuals, and others were just horsepeople.
Because of Bill’s competition background with horses, and having his own horse business for many years, he is uniquely qualified to handle these kinds of issues.
Mr. Koska has represented horse owners in purchase and sale of horses, including advisement on pre-purchase exams and drafting of agreements for sale. He has litigated against the USEF. He has represented horse owners against allegations of doping. He has advised horse owners regarding insurance claims.
Mr. Koska has represented stable owners in trials and cases alleging negligence in the renting of horses, matters involving drafting of releases, failure to pay board, and general bailment law with reference to horses.
He is National Counsel for International Riding Helmets: He has defended all types of injury claims based on helmet issues.
INJURED PARTIES AND PROPERTY OWNERS
Mr. Koska has represented injured persons against stables and other horse owners when the facts warranted it. He has also represented and advised horse owners re: allegations of negligence and trespass/nuisance for the actions of horses they own, whether on the owners property or elsewhere.
